The burden of choice

The morning sun rises against the early turn of autumn leaves. The sky reflects hues of orange and pinks and shines brightly on east facing windows that say hello back.

I am watching from the sidelines; wondering this morning if I or, perhaps dare I speak for an entire American people, have found our faults lies within one simple word: CHOICE.

Choice can lead our hearts to such places of beauty - an intention.

BUT as I am finding in this moment, CHOICE is also what is or can keep me paralyzed from living out what I do have? From pouring everything I have into this moment, from wasting away time wavering in the wind without a place to land?

Choice tells me I can eat anything for breakfast but actually if I can have the same healthy thing every morning, this is likelier the healthier choice.

Choice tells me perhaps the grass is greener somewhere else, but maybe the questions I really need to answer, is for all the cross sections and all the millions of places I can be or with whom, I am here now, can we grow our garden here?

Choice, it seems, has its faults. So how can we tame such a wild beast strewn about by consumer culture and mass media? Wear the same suit, greet the sun in gratitude, take one step in the direction we aim to go with the best intentions and into the places that your light shines a little brighter.
